Renters need to be alert to scammers who use a variety of tactics to cheat honest, hard-working people. First and foremost, never pay with cash, wire transfers or gift cards for rental properties you find online. Try to locate and verify the property owner or manager. Do an online search of the property’s address, and look for reviews or notifications of scams. Beware!
